It's a good thing. It retains its freshness. This is one of the few manga that is so huge that I feel like I could never get enough, as if I could just reach for any volume at random and find a story that I did not read. It does not feel like a manga so much as a microcosm of Tokugawa Japan, a world in the form of manga.
First, it is an incredible Sat, Shogun's sword tester.Or maybe O-Yuki, the disgraced Swordswoman practicing the arts of combat and his body covered with tattoos so it can be horrible revenge on the man who raped her (she fights bare). Or "headless" Sakon (Chapter 16, "Half Mat, a mat, a handful of rice"), a surprisingly powerful adversary, who makes his living as a traveling performer sitting under a table to let people take a swing at his head with a sword for a few copper coins. (It is so fast he can dodge anything.) Or Yagyu Retsudo course, the manipulator wizened, who commands an army of ninjas, and still is a strong fighter despite his age. The power of Ogami is even more impressive because it is not too much literally incredible. It is just a man with a sword and quick reflexes and a lot of will. On the rare occasions when it is injured, it's a big deal, and he spends an entire chapter sometimes lying in a fever, on the verge of death.He manages to seem somewhat unrealistic to perhaps Chapter 103 ("Current Poison"), in which the murderers put to sleep Ogami with toxic smoke, but he defends himself unconsciously, by pure instinct .
